Brief Description
Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) on behalf of Railway Recruitment Cells (RRCs) invite ONLINE applications from eligible Indian Nationals for various posts in Level 1 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix in various units of Indian Railways. Applications must be completed and submitted online to the chosen RRB by 23:59 hrs on 22.02.2025.
Important Dates
Age Limit (as on 01/01/2025)
The age limit for this recruitment is 18 to 36 years. This includes a one-time 3-year age relaxation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Date of birth should be between the dates given below:
- UR & EWS: Born between 02/01/1989 and 01/01/2007.
- OBC (NCL): Born between 02/01/1986 and 01/01/2007.
- SC / ST: Born between 02/01/1984 and 01/01/2007.
Application Fee
- For the ₹500/- category, an amount of ₹400/- will be refunded after appearing in the CBT.
- For the ₹250/- category, the entire fee will be refunded after appearing in the CBT.
- Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates are those with a family income of less than ₹50,000 per annum.
- Fee can be paid online only through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.
Vacancy Details Total: 32438 Posts
The vacancies are distributed across various Railway zones. Candidates can apply to only one Railway zone. The table below shows the total vacancies for each zone.
Eligibility & Medical Standards
Educational Qualification
- 10th pass or ITI from institutions recognised by NCVT/SCVT or equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.
- Candidates waiting for the final results of their prescribed qualification are not eligible and should not apply.
Medical Standards
- Candidates must be medically fit to carry out the duties of the post. Different posts have different standards (e.g., A-2, B-1, C-1).
- Candidates who have undergone LASIK surgery are not eligible for posts with A-2 and A-3 medical standards.
- It is crucial to check the specific medical standard required for each post in Annexure A of the notification before applying.
Selection Process
Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT) 100 Questions / 90 Minutes
- General Science: 25 Questions (Physics, Chemistry & Life Sciences of 10th standard level).
- Mathematics: 25 Questions (Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Algebra, Geometry, etc.).
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: 30 Questions (Analogies, Coding, Syllogism, etc.).
- General Awareness & Current Affairs: 20 Questions (Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Economics, etc.).
- There will be a negative marking of 1/3rd mark for each wrong answer.
Stage 2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Qualifying
- Male Candidates: Must be able to lift and carry 35 Kg of weight for 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance, AND run for a distance of 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.
- Female Candidates: Must be able to lift and carry 20 Kg of weight for 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance, AND run for a distance of 1000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.
- PwBD and CCAA candidates are exempted from PET.
Salary / Pay Scale
- Posts are in Level 1 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Pay Matrix.
- Other allowances will be admissible as per government rules.

- Pay the application fee online before the deadline.
- Final merit will be based on performance in the CBT, subject to qualifying in the PET.
