Brief Description
The Government of India, Ministry of Railways, through the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for the recruitment of 1937 posts in various Paramedical Categories. These posts include Staff Nurse, Pharmacist, Lab Assistant, Radiographer, and others across different railway zones. The selection will be based on a single-stage Computer Based Test (CBT).

Note: For the ₹500 category, ₹400 will be refunded on appearing in the CBT. For the ₹250 category, the full amount will be refunded on appearing in the CBT.

Eligibility Criteria (as on 01/01/2026)
Educational Qualification
- Staff Nurse: B.Sc (Nursing) OR General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) certificate from a recognized institution. Must be registered as a Nurse/Midwife.
- Pharmacist Gr-III: 10+2 in Science or its equivalent, with a Diploma or Degree in Pharmacy. Must be registered as a Pharmacist.
- Lab Assistant Gr-II: 12th in Science (Physics & Chemistry) plus a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT).
- Radiographer: 10+2 with Physics and Chemistry, and a Diploma in Radiography/X-Ray Technician/Radiodiagnosis Technology.
Age Limit
- Staff Nurse: 20 to 40 years.
- Pharmacist: 20 to 35 years.
- Radiographer: 19 to 33 years.
- Lab Assistant: 18 to 33 years.
- Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC and other categories as per government rules.
Selection Process & Syllabus
Selection Method
- The recruitment process will consist of a single-stage Computer Based Test (CBT).
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for Document Verification.
- There will be negative marking in the CBT, with 1/3rd of the marks for each question deducted for a wrong answer.
CBT Syllabus (100 Marks, 90 Mins)
- Professional Ability (70 Marks): Questions pertaining to the technical syllabus for the specific post applied for.
- General Awareness (10 Marks): Current affairs, Indian geography, history and freedom struggle, Indian polity, general scientific and technological developments.
- General Arithmetic, Intelligence & Reasoning (10 Marks): Number systems, time and work, percentages, analogies, coding-decoding, relationships, etc.
- General Science (10 Marks): Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences up to the 10th standard CBSE level.
How to Apply
- Candidates can apply online only through the official websites of the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs).
- Read the detailed CEN carefully before filling the application.
- Select the RRB you wish to apply to and register to create a Registration Number.
- Fill the online application form with all required details and upload scanned copies of your photograph and signature.
- Pay the examination fee online.
- After final submission, take a printout of the application form for your records.

1. What is the selection process for the RRB Paramedical posts?
The selection is based on a single-stage Computer Based Test (CBT). Candidates who are shortlisted based on their CBT performance will be called for Document Verification and a Medical Examination.
2. Is there negative marking in the CBT?
Yes, there is negative marking. For every wrong answer, 1/3rd of the marks allotted for that question will be deducted.
3. I am a female candidate. Do I need to pay the full application fee?
No, female candidates, along with SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, and other concessionary categories, need to pay only ₹250, which will be fully refunded if they appear for the CBT.
4. Can I apply for more than one post?
A candidate possessing the prescribed qualification for more than one post can apply for all those posts, but they must indicate their priority/preference for the posts.
5. Can I choose my exam center?
While you can indicate your preference for exam cities, the RRBs reserve the right to allot you any exam center within the state of your choice or even outside, depending on operational constraints.
